There are many volunteer positions available, both on-water and on-land. Training and previous experience is not necessary. Also, a commitment over the entire duration of the event is not required. If you're not sure what days you would like to work - no problem, just indicate that and we'll work out the details as the event grows closer!

Available Volunteer Positions
Boat & Dolly Assemblers
Description: On the days of August 7th, 8th, 12th, and 15th there will be ten tractor trailers arriving at the St. Margaret Sailing Club bringing with them 185 brand new Lasers and dollies. A volunteer for this position will be responsible for helping unload and unpack the new boats and assembling the necessary parts of the Lasers and dollies.
Dates and Times: August 7th, 8th, 12th, and 15th from 9:00am to 1:00pm
# of Positions: 15 volunteers
Runners
Description: On race days during the Masters Championship, able bodied runners will be needed to assist competitors who will be hauling boats up the hill. Runners will work closely with beach helpers when helping competitors find their dolly and get out of the water.
Dates and Times: Aug. 19th to Sept. 5th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm (Excluding rest day on Sept. 2)
# of Positions: 50 volunteers for the Masters Championship
Beach Helpers
Description: Beach helpers will primarily be helping competitors launch and retrieve their boats and dollies at the beginning and the end of the sailing day. Once the competitors have left the beach in the morning, beach helpers would also be responsible for helping organize 30 pound dollies in the boat yard. Beach helpers may need to get wet up to their waist level so water shoes and swim bottoms should be worn.
Dates and Times: Aug. 19th to Sept. 5th from 11:00am to 5:00pm (Excluding rest day on Sept. 2)
# of Positions: 9 volunteers for Seniors and 13 volunteers for Masters
Parking Detail
Description: Volunteers who will be doing parking detail will be responsible for directing cars to the designated parking areas. Parking detail will also be ensuring that designated no-parking areas are kept clear.
Dates and Times: Aug. 17th to Sept. 5th from 8:30am to 11:00am (Excluding rest day on Sept. 2)
# of Positions: 3 volunteers will be needed during the morning rush and 1 volunteer should supervise parking the rest of the day.
Boat Counters
Description: For the position of boat counter a volunteer would be responsible for taking a competitor's ID lanyard before they go on the water, and returning their ID lanyard when they come off the water. For safety reasons this position is very important as it ensures that all competitors are accounted for at the end of each race day. Because competitor ID lanyards will be kept with the same volunteer at the same launch ramp, this method ensures that sailors return to the same launching area that they left from.
Dates and Times: Aug.19th to Aug. 26th and Aug. 30th to Sept. 5th from 11:00am to 1:00pm and from 3:30pm to 5:00pm (Excluding rest day on Sept. 2)

Wash Down Supervisors
Description: Two volunteers will be needed to supervise the wash down area near the club house to ensure that proper hoses and facilities are available for use and working properly. Wash down supervisors may also need to regulate the amount of time each competitor spends washing their boat because the wash down area is expected to be very busy.

Security Patrol
Description: To assist the paid security force that patrols the grounds at night, a volunteer for this position would be needed to patrol the grounds during the day. A volunteer interested in doing security patrol will be responsible for reporting any suspicious activity to the proper authorities. Security patrol is also encouraged to remind competitors and visitors not to leave their belongings unattended at any time.

Medical Personnel:
Description: Volunteers with medical or emergency training are needed for both the Senior and Master championships. These volunteers need to be on site and prepared to help out in case of an emergency. Volunteers who are Red Cross certified are highly encouraged to inform the organizing committee of their training so that they can be placed in special volunteer positions.

Storage Room Attendant
Description: Volunteers will be needed to run a storage room that will be used to keep sailors personnel belonging save. The storage room will be open from 8:30 in the morning to 6 at night to accommodate sailors who need a dry secure place to keep their belongings safe while they are out sailing or gone home for the night. A volunteer helping out as the storage room attendant will be responsible for checking and recording ID badges to make sure only competitors and coaches are coming in and out.
Dates and Times: Aug. 17th to Sept.5th from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. Because the storage room needs to remain open all day to accommodate sailors, the position storage room attendant will be split up in two shifts (9:00 am to 1:00 pm to 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm).
